Follow the White Rabbit . . .

Dear Fellow Tembusians :D

The bonding event of the semester is coming soon on the 10th of February!!! It's going to be a house-level, College-wide dinner and party! It's an essential part of the Tembusu experience that all of us are part of, so we really wish that you'd mark it out as a compulsory event on your social calendar! Believe me, it's going to be awesome.

What's going to happen on the evening itself?

The event starts at 7pm. Just come on down in your houses, get seated and dine with your house mates. There's no theme for the dinner, except that we'd like everyone to be bright and warm and sunny...and since V Day's around the corner, we'll be having some lovely performances lined up for you.

Bringing that to you will be our very own Tembusu Treblemakers, who made us proud by coming in as SPARKZ finalists, and Ikhsan and Marcus (that's me), who'll be serenading us with a simple acoustic set. They are people who love their music, and just wanna share some of that love with you on the evening itself.

Professor Clancey will be gracing the occasion. He'll be giving out academic awards over the dinner, in recognition of students who performed outstandingly in their essays.

Finally, there'll be a party lined up for you after dinner, at 9pm! It's loosely based on Alice in Wonderland. Play card games, follow the White Rabbit, Mad Hatter and Alice down the Rabbit Hole, stand to win prizes in our lucky draw, drink that which you ought not to drink too much, or too little, and join us for a night of great music (courtesy of NUS Sync), great company and great fun! It's free from the hassle of traveling all the way to town just to hit the clubs, it's with the people you'd love hanging out with and best of all, it's on the house!! Did I mention that we'd be giving out free drinks...erm, Tea...I meant.

You'd not wanna miss out on this :)

Warmly,
Marcus

MioTv Subscription Issue

Dear Tembusians,

Hope you all have had a good week so far. Otherwise, fret not, the weekends are coming! :)

We have noted and hope to address some of your concerns regarding the MioTv subscription in Tembusu.

Back in December, the 2nd CSC had discussed in depth about this issue. However, there were various reasons as to why this MioTv subscription proposal did not pull through. Kindly allow me to explain to you.

Our primary concern in this issue is that we want to ensure the maximum usage and allocation of funds to benefit as many Tembusians as possible.

The cost of having MioTv in Tembusu is over $500+ per month. This is due to the nature of Tembusu College being labelled as a Commercial building by Singtel (which is out of our control). Essentially, a yearly plan would cost us about $6000++ just for the MioTv set alone.

Furthermore, there is an issue with a constant anticipated high demand for MioTv in Tembusu. As the most popular channels watched are usually sports channels, specifically soccer to the majority, during soccer-fever seasons. The MioTv may be under-utilized during non peak sports/soccer/exams seasons, or even during the summer holidays.

Therefore, taking these constraints into consideration , we decided not to implement MioTv in Tembusu. We seek your kind understanding in this matter. =)

Yours faithfully,
The 2nd CSC

Installation of Closed-Circuit Televisions

Good day to you!

In response to the cases of pantry thefts, misplaced items and important assets within the theme rooms, CCTVs will be installed at the following locations:

  1. Shared Pantries (Level 5,9,13,17,21)

  2. Level one lift lobby (Overlooking sofa area)

  3. Theme Rooms (Music, Games, Intersection and Tstudios Room)

A policy document detailing the CCTVs’ operations and access to recordings will be made available to the college upon completion.

Guidelines for Display of Notices in Tembusu College

Hey Tembusians!

If you have not already seen the photo and Google Document in our Facebook group, there has been some changes to the guidelines for putting up notices around the college.

It would be good if you could take just a minute of your time to skim through it as notices that do not adhere to the guidelines will be removed.

This is to keep you guys effectively updated about the many events and activities that will be held throughout the year.

Cheers,
Dory
